In the 1950s freeway system development took off, leading to a boom in driving culture in the 1970's. The cars of the 1970s incorporated new computer technology never before seen on the market and automation made it possible to produce more vehicles than ever before. 70's cars were much boxier than the sleek, curvy exteriors of today's cars. Shag interiors and vinyl roofs were all the rage! Parking lots were filled with brightly colored vehicles such as yellow, orange, green, and race-car red. The Ford Escort, Morris Marina, Austin Allegro, and Ford Cortina were among the most popular cars of the day. High-end cars such as the 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS and the 1970 Citroen SM were known for their futuristic, aeronautical design that made the driver feel like his car could zip through space and time. They certainly don't make em' like they used to!
So, are you ready to find out if you can identify these 1970s cars in just 7 minutes? Blast some Led Zeppelin and find out!
