CALLING ALL MOVIE LOVERS! When it comes to film, there are tons of genres and plots the cinema can follow. From classics like "Casablanca" to newer favorites like "Avengers," can we guess your age based on your taste in movies?
Motion pictures have been around for over a century. "Roundhay Garden Scene" is credited as being the first film ever, created in 1888. Although it is under three seconds long, it still fits the criterion for a movie! While this was a silent, black and white film, the world of cinema would soon boom.
When looking at the highest-grossing films in the United States, the list covers all decades. The top five films are "Gone With the Wind" (1939), "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" (1977), "The Sound of Music" (1965), "E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial" (1982), and "Titanic" (1997). Even with the vast time difference between these movies, their genres also cover most spectrums.
"Gone With the Wind" is a historical drama while "Star Wars" is a fantasy epic. "The Sound of Music" was a popular musical and "E.T." was a science fiction film aimed towards children. The most recent film in the top 5, "Titanic" was the epic romance starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. How many of these films would be listed as your favorites?
