The movies of the '80s are iconic for several reasons: the actors, the stories, and the directors. Some of the movies that hit the big screen in the '80s continue to rank as top fan favorites even today.

Many '80s movies starred what was then known as the Brat Pack. A play on the 1950s-1960s Rat Pack that consisted of Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Frank Sinatra, Peter, Lawford, and Joey Bishop, the Brat Pack consisted of Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Rob Lowe, Demi Moore, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald, and Ally Sheedy.

Just like the actors of the Rat Pack worked together in many of the films of the '50 and '60s, the actors of the Brat Pack were featured in numerous movies of the '80s, many of which had a common theme. The Brat Pack movies included "16 Candles," "The Breakfast Club," "St. Elmo's Fire," and "Pretty in Pink." The original listing of the Brat Pack actors also included such greats as Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze, Charlie Sheen, and Matt Dillon, but these actors and others were eventually left off of the list of the core group.
