We all know bands for their distinct sound and their often crazy members. But do you know these bands well enough to correctly match them to their lead singers?

They don’t call him the “Demon of Screamin’” for nothing. Since the 1970s, Tyler has been the lead singer of Aerosmith. With his iconic long hair, pouty lips, and acrobatic performances, Tyler can still deliver a good show, even though he is in his late 60s.

After forming the band Bon Jovi in 1983, Jon Bon Jovi rocked his way into the headphones and speaker boxes of an entire generation. The talented singer/songwriter/actor has received some of the highest accolades in the entertainment world and is still quite active today.

When people think of Rock & Roll, British superstar Mick Jagger pops into their minds. He has been the lead singer of The Rolling Stones since the 1960s, and has also had a relatively successful solo career. With a career spanning over five decades, Mick Jagger earns his spot as one of the most iconic lead singers in rock history.

Paul McCartney has managed to do what many lead-vocalists-turned-solo artists have failed to do; be successful in both endeavors. He is seen as one of the most successful composers of all time and is a two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee - one for the Beatles, the other as a solo artist.

Morrison's career has been one of the most talked about. His voice, crazy personality, performances, and flair for the dramatic - in addition to his early death - have all kept him in the spotlight. He is known as one of the most iconic lead singers in rock history.

From a tender age, Billy Joe Armstrong fell in love with rock music. By age 15, he and his friend, Mike Pritchard, formed a band called Sweet Children. The band was renamed Green Day in 1989, and it spewed hit-after-hit in the 1990s and 2000s. Despite his problems with drug use, Armstrong has reaped the benefits of following his musical passion.

Renowned as one of the world’s top rock vocalists, Chester Bennington of Linkin’ Park shaped the musical tastes of millennials. Despite his success, Bennington battled drug use and depression, and committed suicide in his California home on July 20th, 2017.

Artistic, yet troubled, are the best words to describe Kurt Cobain’s legacy as a major public figure of the 1990s. The singer/songwriter/poet formed Nirvana in 1987, and by 1991, their song, “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” propelled them to the top. However Cobain’s battles with heroin addiction, depression, and other health issues, came to a halt when he ended his life in 1994. He was 27.

Led Zeppelin was active between 1968 and 1980 and during those 12 years, they cemented themselves as one of the greatest rock bands of all time. This was partially due to Robert Plant and his amazing vocal range - particularly his high pitches. That voice gave him a successful more than 50-year career.

Adam Levine has been a member of Maroon 5 since its inception (1994). Not only does he sing, he's also the band's lead guitarist. In addition to being in Maroon 5, Levine is also a judge on the hit TV show, "The Voice," where he' is a judge alongside Blake Shelton, Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Hudson.

Since N’SYNC’s launch in 1995, Justin Timberlake’s vocal talent has wowed everyone, including the great Michael Jackson. In 2004, then 23-year-old Timberlake said “Bye Bye Bye” to N’SYNC and focused on acting and his solo career. Justin Timberlake continues to be a household name today.

Known for his black eyeliner, spiky hair, and rock music, Gerard Way was the definition of “emo.” His stint with My Chemical Romance lasted from 2001 until 2013 when the band broke up. He has now delved into the worlds of television and comic book writing.

Chris Martin is the co-founder of the British rock band, Coldplay. While being a member of the band, he also had a solo career. Martin continues to co-write and collaborate with other performers, while touring and releasing albums with Coldplay.

To this day, people believe Debbie Harry's name is Blondie. But Blondie is actually the name of the band. Harry and Blondie have reached the #1 spot on the UK and US music charts numerous times. Harry is considered the first female rapper to reach #1, for the song, "Rapture."

As the namesake of Mumford & Sons, 30-year-old Marcus Mumford is a lead singer with musical talent. Among his skills are playing the guitar, drums, and mandolin. He married Carey Mulligan in 2012.

Axl Rose is the singer and songwriter in the ultra famous Guns N' Roses. He is the only remaining original member of the band since its inception in 1985. Rose has also been the lead singer of another famous band, AC/DC, since 2016.

William Corgan Jr. is more than just the lead singer of the Smashing Pumpkins. He is also a producer, poet, songwriter and guitarist. Corgan and James Iha formed the band in 1988. Corgan is its sole remaining original member.

Bono may just be one of the most successful lead singers of all time. He managed to use his success in the music industry to become a businessman, venture capitalist and philanthropist. He is also the primary lyricist for U2.

For six years, the Australian hard rock band, AC/DC, was graced with Bon Scott as their lead singer. This ended after his untimely, mysterious death in 1980. Scott’s legacy lives on in the 1979 hit, “Highway To Hell,” and he goes down in history as one of the best lead singers of all time.

Gwen Stefani has shuffled back and forth when it comes to being the band's lead singer. In the 80s, she provided both lead and backing vocals for the band. Although she had a successful solo career, she was still a part of the band, and still is to this day.

This English singer rose to fame as the lead vocalist for the rock band, Oasis. Gallagher then moved on to Beady Eye, before deciding that being a solo artist was best for him. This rock singer is known for his voice, bad attitude and what is often termed "erratic" behavior.

This lead singer has done it all. From singing to writing to acting and being a radio personality. He took a 20-year hiatus from singing in the band, but returned in 2006. During those 20 years, he went solo. In 2007, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Jonathan Davis is the lead vocalist for the nu metal band, Korn. Unlike many bands who started before the new millennium, Korn still has the majority of its founding members. Davis, in addition to having an amazing voice, can play the bagpipes.

Dave Grohl used to be the drummer for Nirvana before he founded the Foo Fighters, of which he is the lead vocalist, primary songwriter and lead rhythm guitarist. Grohl also co-founded the super group known as Them Crooked Vultures. The band has members from Led Zeppelin, Nirvana and Queens of the Stone Age.

Although Wayne Coyne founded “The Flaming Lips” in 1983, he never intended to be the lead singer. He only took on the role when his brother left the band. The Band’s bizarre name also translates to their mind-bending, out-of-this-world performances, thanks to Coyne's creative genius.

This British singer/songwriter was born in 1986 and is best known for her red hair and mezzo-soprano voice. Between 2006 and 2010, she joined her friend, Isabella Machine, to create “Florence and the Machine.” Even after the band’s fame died down, Welch's solo career is still on an upward trajectory.

This multi-talented lead singer of Metallica has also been known to take the lead on guitar duties for his band. His skills on the guitar landed him as the 87th greatest guitarist of all time, according to Rolling Stone magazine.

Many people don't know this, but Jared Leto was in television before he started "Thirty Seconds to Mars" in 1998. Leto has not only earned music awards, but is also the recipient of an Academy Award, Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award.

Brandon Flowers does it all. He is the lead singer, keyboardist and occasional bass guitarist for his band, The Killers. He has also released two solo albums, as well as five with The Killers. The band has been nominated for seven Grammy Awards and seven BRIT Awards.

Robert Smith is known for more than just his distinctive voice. His sense of style is one-of-a-kind. He is the the principal songwriter, lyricist, guitarist and singer for The Cure. Smith also played guitar in the band, Siouxsie and the Banshees.

Freddie Mercury died due to complications of AIDS at the age of 45. Before his death, he wrote many hit songs for his band, Queen, which he formed in 1970. After he died, he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the UK Music Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Dave Gahan is the front man for the electronic band, Depeche Mode. Despite being there since the band's inception, he has also had a solo career. He released two albums in the early 2000s. Gahan is known for his rich baritone voice and contributing to the songwriting of the band's best hits.

Ezra Koenig is the lead singer and songwriter for the indie rock band, Vampire Weekend. Before forming Vampire Weekend, he was in Ra Ra Riot, The Sophisticuffs, and L'Homme Run. Vampire Weekend won a Grammy Award in 2014 for Best Alternative Music Album, "Modern Vampires of the City."

Thom Yorke is the lead singer responsible for the lyrics and vocals of Radiohead. This talented singer can also play the guitar and piano and is known to dabble in synthesizing, sequencing and programming. Rolling Stone ranked him as the 66th greatest singer of all time.

Simon Le Bon has been the lead singer of Duran Duran since 1980, when his ex-girlfriend at the time thought he'd made a good lead vocalist.. Before the band reunited in 1986, he formed another band, Arcadia, with two members of Duran Duran. He has also dabbled in a somewhat solo career.

Rivers Cuomo was more than just the lead vocalist for Weezer. He was also a guitarist and songwriter. Before finding his home in Weezer in 1992, he played in many rock bands in California. Fun fact: Rivers was born with his left leg 44 mm shorter than his right.

Like many other lead singers, Turner toyed with being a solo artist. He recorded a song for the 2010 movie, 'Submarine'. He also had a side project, The Last Shadow Puppets, a super group consisting of members of various other bands.

This guy is pretty talented. Apart from being the lead singer of Nine Inch Nails, Reznor also writes, produces and is a film score composer. He even won an Academy Award for Best Original Score for the movie, "The Social Network," and a Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media for "The Girth with the Dragon Tattoo."

Cornell was known for being the lead vocalist for the bands, Audioslave and Soundgarden. He sold almost 15 million albums and almost 9 million digital songs. He committed suicide and was found in his hotel room on May 18, 2017. He suffered from depression and substance abuse.

In most bands, the lead singer is the most popular. In the case of Fall Out Boy, their bassist, Pete Wentz, is. Patrick Stump, besides being the band's lead singer, is also an actor, producer and music critic. The 33-year-old Illinois native also plays many different instruments, including rhythm guitar.

Amy Lee's hauntingly beautiful voice leads the band, "Evanescence." She co-founded the rock band, but has also had collaborations with Korn, Seether and David Hodges. This talented singer has also recorded for the Disney's "Nightmare Revisted" and "Muppets: The Green Album."

Kiedis has been the front man of the Red Hot Chili Peppers since the band's inception (1983). He also co-founded the band and has been on all 11 of their studio albums. He and his band members were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.

This singer/songwriter has been pretty busy. Besides being the lead vocalist for Imagine Dragons, he also formed a duo with Aja Volman under the moniker, Egyptian. The 30-year-old received the Songwriters Hall of Fame Hal David Starlight Award.

Deryck Whibley is the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for alternative band, Sum41. He is the longest-lasting member of the band as of 2015. Fun fact: Whibley was married to Avril Lavigne for almost four years.

Twenty One Pilots is a relatively new band, having formed in 2009. The band won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance in 2017, which they accepted in their underwear. They said that they watched the Grammys in their boxers, and if they were to ever win one, they'd receive it that way as well.

Eddie Vedder has been in the music industry for a long time. As the lead singer and one of three guitarists in Pearl Jam, he rose to fame for his skills on the instrument and his powerful baritone vocals. Vedder was recently added to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2017.

Followill and his brothers, Nathan and Jared, and their cousin, Matthew, formed Kings of Leon while most of them were still teenagers. The band first started out with more blues influences and gradually expanded to alternative. The band went on a nearly two-year hiatus from 2011 to 2013.

Ozzy Osbourne rose to fame during his stint as the lead singer of Black Sabbath. The singer was fired from the band in 1979 because of tensions between members. Despite being fired, Osbourne went on to have a very successful solo career, releasing 11 studio albums. He is known as the Godfather of Heavy Metal.

Paramore had been through quite a bit. They initially started off with five members and currently have three. Their powerhouse lead singer, Hayley Williams, has been a constant since the band's inception 13 years ago.

Brendon Urie is the sole remaining original member of Panic! At the Disco. In 2015, Spencer Smith, the founding drummer, left. Urie is a frequent contributor to his label-mate's (Fall Out Boy) projects. He has also sung with Billy Joel, Cee-Lo Green and Janelle Monae.
