The "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise was so successful by the time that "On Stranger Tides" was ready that Penelope Cruz agreed to her role before she read the script. Johnny Depp agreed to repeat his role as Jack Sparrow before a script was even written.

Oh, Barbarossa and apples. In the first series movie, Barbarossa stated his love of apples. In "On Stranger Tides," his love lives on as he is seen snacking on an apple wedge aboard the Providence.

Pirate movies notoriously fail at the box office which was the reason Robert De Niro turned down the role of Jack Sparrow. However, De Niro is a smart fella and later took on the role of Captain Shakespeare in "Stardust" a few years later.

Many writers complain after their book is turned into a movie for not capturing the spirit of the book. "On Stranger Tides" was loosely based on the 1988 novel of the same name written by Tim Powers.

Boy Scouts around the country have every reason to look up to the pirate Barbossa. He is wearing an Eagle Scout ring in many scenes.

How important is Orlando Bloom? "The Curse of the Black Pearl" and "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" synchronized their first theatrical trailers so fans knew he was in both.

The role of Syrena was originally considered for Meghan Fox. However, most people will agree that Astrid Bergès-Frisbey did an amazing job.

Jealousy on set? The director thought he would draw more emotion from Orlando Bloom by leaving the kiss between Elizabeth and Jack only out of Bloom's script. Surprise!

"At World's End" is truly an epic. At 169 minutes it is Disney's longest released film.

The skull and crossbones is the popular flag of pirates. However, in "The Curse of the Black Pearl" they use a skull and crossed blades, which was the flag of famous pirate Jack Rackam.

While the protagonist, and sometimes antagonist of the "Pirates of the Caribbean Series," even Jack Sparrow doesn't always stand out. He is not seen until the 33rd minute of "At World's End."

Johnny Depp came up with the famous line, "Bring me that horizon." The metal band, Bring Me the Horizon, got their name from the movie.

On Stranger Tides is the first "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie where Jack Sparrow does not face off against a supernatural crew.

Disney is well-known for its children's movies. "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" was the first PG-13 rating for Walt Disney Pictures.

The film-makers enjoyed mixing and matching various pirate flags throughout the series. When Jack sails off at the end of "At World's End" he is flying the flag of pirate Henry Avery.

In a pirate movie you expect a lot of people to die. Dead Man's Chest is responsible for 82.

Will's curse. He may not age, but he can only go on land one day every ten years. "At World's End" was released in 2007. The next movie ... 2017. Now that's dedication to the plot of a series.

Was there a time-travelling pirate? In "Dead Man's Chest," when Jack Sparrow falls into a grave, a shoe print can be seen.

Teddy bears weren't invented until 1902. Someone should have told Master Gibbs who is seen holding one as he sleeps.
