Tom Riddle, better known as Lord Voldemort -- or he who must not be named -- was completely obsessed with blood purity both as a child and beyond. His hatred of mudbloods made him determined to conquer both the muggle and wizarding worlds at any cost -- and also helped him fit right into Slytherin House at Hogwarts.

Hufflepuffs are all about hard work and fair play, so it's no surprise that Tonks was sorted into Hufflepuff house. She later became an Auror and married Remus Lupin.

The handsome and popular Cedric Diggory was both Seeker and Captain of the Hufflepuff Quidditch team. Sadly, he was killed by Voldemort in the Triwizard Tournament.

Muggle-born Lily Evans began dating James Potter in her seventh year at Hogwarts. Despite her placement in Gryffindor, she remained good friends with Slytherin Severus Snape.

Peter Pettigrew was one of the few bad seeds who ended up sorted into Gryffindor. He was close to James Potter at school, but later turned on his friend and became a spy for Voldemort.

Half-giant Rubeus Hagrid was a Gryffindor until he was expelled from Hogwarts for keeping a giant spider as a pet. Dumbledore kept him on as Keeper of the Grounds so he could remain at the school.

Ravenclaw Sybill Trelawny claimed to have an all-seeing eye, but often failed to see the future. She became a Divination professor at Hogwarts, and managed to accurately predict the return of Voldemort.

Like his son, James Potter was sorted into Gryffindor when he arrived at Hogwarts. He and his wife Lily were murdered by Lord Voldemort when Harry was just a baby.

Severus Snape may have been a Slytherin, but he was also one of the most conflicted characters in the Harry Potter world. He turned his back on Voldemort when he learned that the Dark Lord planned to kill his good friend Lily Evans.

Hannah Abbott was sorted into Hufflepuff the same year Harry Potter entered Hogwarts. After graduation, she married Neville Longbottom.

Ravenclaw Quirinus Quirrell returned to Hogwarts to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts during Harry's first year at the school. He was killed by Voldemort as the Dark Lord attempted once again to kill Harry Potter.

Draco Malfoy made Harry's life at Hogwarts as difficult as possible. The mudblood-hating Malfoy was the ideal Slytherin, just like the rest of his elitist family.

Unlike the other members of the House of Black, Sirius was sorted into Gryffindor rather than Slytherin. He became best friends with James Potter and was named godfather to Harry.

Gilderoy Lockhart was clever and charming, making him a great fit for Ravenclaw. He later became a celebrity writer, but ended his career with a memory charm gone wrong.

The courageous Neville Longbottom was a Gryffindor through and through. He was a leader member of Dumbledore's Army, and bravely took on Voldemort at the Battle of Hogwarts.

Minerva McGonagall nearly became a Ravenclaw before she was sorted into Gryffindor. She returned to Hogwarts to teach Transfiguration and serve as Head of Gryffinder House.

Professor Slughorn was Head of Slytherin House when Tom Riddle came to the school. He also served as Potions Master, and is guilty of telling Riddle how horcruxes are made.

Poor Moaning Myrtle. Bullied while attending Hogwarts as a member of Ravenclaw House, she was later killed by Tom Riddle and ended up haunting the bathroom for eternity.

As the youngest son of the Weasley family, it was a surprise to no one when red-haired Ron ended up in Gryffindor. He went on to become best friends with Harry and to marry Herminone Granger.

The bully Pansy Parkinson fit right into Slytherin. A friend of Draco Malfoy, she later became a member of Umbridge's Inquisitorial Squad.

Prefect and perfect student Percy Weasley was named to Gryffindor like the rest of his family. He struggled with his loyalty to his family as he worked his way up the ladder at the Ministry of Magic.

The only child of Ron Weasley and Herminone Granger, Rose Granger-Weasley was sorted into Gryffindor like both of her parents. She attended Hogwarts at the same time as Albus Potter and Scorpius Malfoy.

Hufflepuff Ernie MacMillan was friends with Harry, but often found himself at odds with Harry during his time at Hogwarts. He eventually became a Prefect and fought alongside Dumbledore's Army.

Like most members of the House of Black, Regulus was sorted into Slytherin. The younger brother to Sirius, Regulus became a Death Eater and loyal Voldemort supporter.

Hufflepuff Justin Finch-Fletchly was in the same year as Harry at Hogwarts. He was close friends with fellow Hufflepuffs Hannah Abbott and Ernie MacMillan.

The clever wandmaker Garrick Ollivander belonged to Ravenclaw during his time at Hogwarts. He later opened a wand shop in Diagon Alley which served generations of wizards.

Remus Lupin belonged to Gryffindor like his good friends James Potter and Sirius Black. The werewolf later returned to the school to briefly teach Defense Against the Dark Arts.

The part-goblin Filius Flitwick was a model student, and his cunning goblin nature made him a good fit for Ravenclaw. He later became the head of Ravenclaw House as well as the Charms teacher while Harry was at the school.

Named for Harry's mother and one of his best friends, Lily Luna Potter was his and Ginny's youngest child. Like her father and mother before her, Lily was sorted into Gryffindor.

Named for two great Hogwarts leaders, Albus Severus Potter was the youngest son of Harry and Ginny. He was sorted into Slytherin like his friend Scorpius Malfoy.

Padma Patil, who went to the Yule Ball with Ron, was in Slytherin. Her twin sister, Pavarti, belonged to Gryffindor with Harry.

James Sirius Potter was the eldest son of Harry and Ginny. He was sorted into Gryffindor like his parents and his godparents, Ron and Hermione.

Zacharias Smith was a Chaser on the Hufflepuff Quidditch team. He belonged to Dumbledore's Army, but fled during the Battle of Hogwarts instead of fighting with his friends.

Groegory Goyle was a Slytherin like his buddy Draco Malfoy. His father was a Death Eater, which made his link to Slytherin that much stronger.

Harry Potter begged the sorting hat not to put him in Slytherin, so the hat placed him into Gryffindor. By defeating Lord Voldemort several times, he demonstrated the bravery and determination associated with Gryffindor House.

The pure-blood Vincent Crabbe had a Death Eater dad, so it's no surprise he ended up in Slytherin. He and Goyle served as lackeys for Malfoy during much of their time at Hogwarts.

Hufflepuff Newt Scamander took the blame for a friend's experiment gone wrong and ended up expelled from Hogwarts. He later published the book, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."

Colin Creevey was a huge Harry fan, and had easy access to his idol when he was sorted into Gryffindor House. Sadly, he was killed by Death Eaters during the Battle of Hogwarts.

The youngest child of the Weasley family, Ginny carried on the family tradition when she was sorted into Gryffindor. She later married Harry and they had three children.

The Fat Friar was a Hufflehuff during his time at Hogwarts. He joined the clergy and later returned to the school at the resident Hufflepuff House Ghost.

Lucius Malfoy was a Slytherin like the rest of his family. He was a loyal servant to Voldemort, and he passed his dark ways onto his son, Draco.

Hermione Granger could have been in Ravenclaw, but her bravery must have exceeded her brains because she was sorted into Gryffindor. She later married Ron Weasley.
