About This Quiz

Do you know who the first cartoon animal to hit the TV or movie screen was? Mickey Mouse maybe? Nope. Donald Duck? Wrong again. The first cartoon animal was all the way back in 1913 and his name was Old Doc Yak who was a billy-goat wearing striped pants. This is significant because Old Doc Yak went on to become a beloved cartoon character with a unique appeal to children. It was also the first time that this form of media was recognized as a goldmine to TV producers as a great form of children's entertainment. Within ten years, Walt Disney began making short animated films based on fairy tales. And by 1928, the beloved and iconic Mickey Mouse and his girlfriend Minnie were introduced in the first animated sound cartoon, "Steamboat Willie."

Like everyone else, you grew up with cartoon animals, but who was your favorite? Were you a fan of Scooby Doo and his mystery-solving antics?  Did you dream of flying through the air to save the day like Mighty Mouse and Underdog? Or, did your favorite cartoon animal show up in the last few years?

From Old Doc Yak to Spongebob Squarepants these are the most beloved cartoons and cartoon animals you grew to love. See how many you can figure out from their image!
