Viewership was at its highest in the last six minutes, with a whopping 121.6 million. No other series has come close to breaking the record. For comparison, these are the sitcoms that have come closest: 80.4 million watched the "Cheers" finale, 76.3 million tuned in for the "Seinfeld" finale and 52.5 million watched the "Friends" finale. With an average of 106.5 million viewers, Super Bowl XLIV barely edged out the "M*A*S*H" finale in 2010 for the most viewers of any type of television program.
