About This Quiz
Torque...
Along with horsepower figures, these are numbers that car nuts pore over when trying to decide which vehicle is better than the other without having to race them on some tarmac. Although we prefer the smell of burning rubber, torque figures are important.
But what is torque, exactly?
Simply put, torque is how much force can be applied through the engine in a given gear. You will notice, the best torque rating always has a certain engine RPM that it applies to. Of course, having a car with higher torque is useless if this cannot be applied properly through the tires.Â
So what do you have to do in this quiz? Well, in this side by side comparison, it's up to you to figure out which car out of the two we have shown you has the most torque.Â
While some are pretty easy, others are going to take all your auto knowledge to figure out. There are some really difficult ones in among our 40 questions, but with your thinking cap on, you stand a really good chance of coming out with flying colors.

The Impala name is synonymous with Chevrolet. The 1965 Impala SS generated 460 lb-ft of torque, a little more than the 350 lb-ft of the Ford Taurus SHO V6 from 2009.

1935 Duesenberg SJ
A real looker, The SJ was only for the rich and famous. After all, it was produced during the Depression, so the man in the street was certainly not going to get behind the wheel. These cars had a supercharged motor and produced an impressive 425 lb-ft of torque. It had far more torque than the 1939 BMW 321 which came in at about 150 lb-ft.

Hummer H1
Know for their sports cars, the LM002 was a massive departure for Lamborghini. It was built between 1986 and 1993 with only 328 were made. The LM002 turned out 369 lb-ft of torque while the original Hummer H1 trumped it, producing 430 lb-ft. Take that, Lamborghini!

In 1959, the Mini Mk 1 was introduced to the world. And what a popular car it proved to be. It produced around 44 lb-ft of torque. A similar vehicle in terms of size, the Fiat 500 was popular in Europe with the Nuova 500 Sport only producing 20 lb-ft of torque through its small 500cc engine.

First marketed in 2002, the A6 RS6 is an executive car with a sporty twist. Now in its third generation, the RS6 takes the form of an "Avant" or station wagon. A station wagon with a bite! It generates up to 515 lb-ft of torque. The Mercedes G Class AMG generates more, however, a staggering 561 lb-ft in fact.

One of the most iconic vehicles ever produced by the Chevrolet was the Bel Air. Manufactured between 1955 and 1957, the Bel Air will always be remembered for its fantastic trim and those beautiful pointy tailfins. The 1957 Bel Air's engine produced around 550 lb-ft of torque while one of its rivals from Ford, the Thunderbird, generated far less, around 280 lb-ft.

This three-door hatback had six gas and four diesel engine variants from 2006 to 2013. The C30 was Volvo's premium sports coupe over that period, with the top-of-the-range model producing 236 lb-ft of torque. The Mark 2 Ford Escort, one of the original hot hatches of the 1970s, produced 120 lb-ft.

Sadly discontinued in 2009, Pontiac, a General Motors brand has produced some iconic names in motoring and none more so than its GTO. The first models, released in 1964, were available in a convertible, hardtop and coupe. The 1969 model, affectionately called The Judge, produced 445 lb-ft of torque. This was an improvement on its rival, the 1968 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet which turned out 440 lb-ft. The Judge wins ... just.
