If you looked up the term "junk food" (which dates back to the 1950's) it would define it as "any food that has low nutritional value, typically produced in the form of packaged snacks needing little or no preparation." These high calorie snacks have often been associated with negative health effects but once eaten in moderation, we should be OK, right?
They're being sold in every major supermarket, the corner stores down the street, in many of our schools as well as on planes, and while they may not be good for us, many of us just can't help but eat them. From childhood favorites like gummy bears and chocolate, to movie snacks like hot dogs and popcorn, to comfort foods like pizza and fried chicken, junk food has become a major staple in many of our diets.
